The Pinot Blanc variety is a genetic mutation of the Pinot Gris variety, which in turn originates from Pinot Noir. The variety has French roots and is known by a multitude of synonyms, one of which is Weissklerner.

Pinot Blanc belongs to the wine grape varieties. It is used primarily for the production of white wines, and is also an important component for creating sparkling wines, such as Crémant d'Alsace. The characteristics of the variety, including vine morphology and growing requirements, vary depending on the clone, growing region, and agrotechnical conditions.
