The variety is the result of a spontaneous crossing of Weisser Heunisch and a Traminer descendant. The vines have high vigor and yield. Leaves are large, 3-5-lobed, leathery and blistered. Clusters are large, dense, with large, oblong, green or yellow-green berries with thin skins.

The plant is characterized by poor vine ripening, low winter hardiness, and susceptibility to oidium, botrytis, and rachis necrosis. The variety requires significant canopy management. Wines made from it are characterized as light and "crispy," with low sugar and alcohol content, notes of green apple, citrus, and minerality.
