The variety is of Italian origin and was historically known under the names Eperon and Spron. Genetic studies confirm the variety's relationship with the local species Fumin and Prié. The variety belongs to the late ripening category, which complicates its cultivation in mountain climates.
The berries are black, from medium to small size, spherical in shape, and have thick skin with a waxy bloom. The bunches are pyramidal, moderately dense, and small. The plant is characterized by moderate yield and resistance to sunburn.
A wine grape variety intended for winemaking. The finished wine possesses a deep red-purple color, good tannins, and balanced acidity.
