The name Weisser Klevner (also Weissklevner) can refer to different types depending on the wine-growing region. Most often in Austria and Alsace, this name is understood to be the Pinot Blanc (Weißburgunder) variety, which is a mutation of Pinot Noir.
In other regions, this designation has historically been applied to other varieties: in Baden and Switzerland, it can refer to Pinot Noir, in Württemberg to Pinot Fromenteau, and in the Ortenau region to Gewürztraminer. In official catalogs, this term is cited exclusively as a synonym for other varieties.
