This characteristic allows them to effectively support the growth of scion cultivars even in areas infested with the pest.
The resistance of these rootstocks to the leaf form of phylloxera is less pronounced: galls may form on leaves, petioles, and tendrils, where female pests lay their eggs. The trait of resistance to the root form in these hybrids is considered complex, and the existence of specific mapped Rdv genes for this group has not been confirmed.
Although the resistance of this group of rootstocks is considered stable, there are studies suggesting the possibility of phylloxera populations adapting to individual rootstocks. The likelihood of overcoming immunity is associated with the potential presence of segments from susceptible Vitis vinifera in the genotype of historical rootstocks.
