Sour cherry productivity is assessed using yield recording methods in kg per tree or tonnes per hectare, taking into account the planting scheme. Long-term monitoring is conducted to evaluate this indicator, as yield significantly depends on the orchard's operational life, scion-rootstock combinations, and the annual impact of abiotic factors.
In intensive orchards, a yield exceeding 10 t/ha during the full fruiting period is considered high. At the same time, varieties sensitive to stresses, such as late spring frosts, can demonstrate low productivity, dropping to 0.1–2.7 kg per tree in unfavorable years.
This trait is closely linked to precocity and plant adaptability. Productivity is influenced by resistance to diseases such as coccomycosis and moniliosis, which can critically reduce current yields and tree longevity, as well as the choice of rootstock, which modulates the variety's response to external conditions.
