Triticum aestivum L. subsp. spelta (L.) Thell.
A fungal disease of spelt caused by the pathogens Zymoseptoria tritici and Parastagonospora nodorum. The infection manifests as necrotic spots on leaves and glumes with the formation of pycnidia.

The pathogens causing Septoria blotch in spelt are the same fungal organisms that affect common wheat. Zymoseptoria tritici primarily infects the leaf apparatus, whereas Parastagonospora nodorum is capable of infecting both leaves and the spike, causing darkening of the glumes and grain shriveling.
A diagnostic sign of the disease is the formation of small black fruiting bodies — pycnidia — in the center of necrotic spots, the color of which varies from light green to yellow-brown. For breeding purposes, spelt is considered a source of resistance; in particular, quantitative resistance loci QStb.ipk-7D1 and QStb.ipk-7D2 to leaf blotch have been mapped on chromosome 7D.
