The plant reaches a height of 0.8–1.5 m with a crown width of 0.4–0.6 m. Young leaves have a coral-red or orange-burgundy shade, turn dark red with a purple bloom in summer, and acquire crimson tones in autumn. Shoots are covered with thorns.
Flowering occurs in May with small yellow flowers; bright red oblong fruits ripen in autumn. The variety is frost-resistant (USDA zone 4) and resistant to urban conditions and diseases. Prefers sunny places, is undemanding to soils, and tolerates loamy and sandy loam soils well.
Used in landscape design to create vertical accents, hedges, solitary and group plantings, as well as for container cultivation.
