The plant forms a strictly vertical crown with a height of 1 to 1.5 meters and a width of 0.4–0.7 meters. Young leaves are pink with burgundy-red spots; as they mature, the color becomes dark burgundy-purple.
Flowering occurs in May–June with small yellow flowers; bright red inedible fruits ripen in the autumn. The variety is winter hardy, withstanding temperature drops down to -26…-29 °C, is resistant to drought, heat, and urban conditions, and tolerates pruning well.
