The shrub has thin, arched, reddish-brown shoots with small thorns. Plant height ranges from 50 to 90 cm, crown diameter varies from 80 to 120 cm. Small lanceolate or oval leaves change shade throughout the season, transitioning from bright orange to coral, violet, and crimson.
Flowering occurs in May-June with yellow or orange-yellow flowers. In August-September, inedible coral-red fruits ripen, which persist on the branches for a long time. The plant is winter-hardy, resistant to diseases and urban conditions, and is used in landscape design for creating borders, mixed borders, and container plantings.
