The variety is of Italian origin and is historically typical of the Bari province. In literature, it is often identified with the Ogliarola Barese variety and also linked to the Térmite di Bitetto variety. The purpose of the variety is dual: the fruits are used both for canning and for olive oil production.
The tree is distinguished by medium vigor and an open canopy of medium density with elliptic-lanceolate leaves. The fruits are round in shape, small to medium in size, and change color as they ripen from green to violet-black. Flowering occurs in the early-to-medium period.
The variety is resistant to the pathogen Cycloconium oleaginum, however, it shows susceptibility to the olive fruit fly, olive knot, and low temperatures. Productivity is estimated as medium, with a pronounced tendency towards alternate bearing.
