Variety description

10 August 2026

In agronomic literature, the name Cerruda is used to describe trees with a thick and dense crown originating from the Aragon region in Spain. It is often used as part of local names designating individual forms or genotypes, such as Cerruda de Liesa, Cerruda de Olvena, or Cerruda de Artasona.

These forms are an autochthonous genetic heritage of the region and are not the result of modern breeding. They are used in local olive production for obtaining oil, in particular, within the framework of the protected designation of origin PDO Aceite del Somontano.
