The Istrska belica variety is a domesticated form adapted to the local conditions of Slovenia. The trees have medium vigor and a characteristic upright, broom-like crown, which complicates the formation process. Fruit bearing begins relatively late, but with proper care becomes regular.
The fruit ripening period falls between mid-November and mid-December. The variety is partially self-pollinating, so planting pollinators is recommended to increase yield. The plant shows resistance to low temperatures, but is susceptible to the olive fruit fly and the fungal disease "peacock spot".
Medium-sized fruits have a high flesh-to-pit ratio and are valued for their high oil content. The term "Cepljena" in the name indicates the propagation method via grafting, as fruits on grafted trees may differ in weight and size from fruits on own-rooted trees.
