The variety is an autochthonous Italian cultivar common in the central and northwestern parts of Sicily. The plant has medium vigor and a spreading canopy of medium density. The fruits are large, weighing from 9 to 15 g, and have an elliptical, slightly asymmetrical shape.
The fruits are valued for their crunchy flesh, which easily separates from the pit. The resulting oil is distinguished by a harmonious flavor with fruity notes of almond, artichoke, and tomato leaf, with a slight bitterness. The variety is sensitive to drought, olive knot, and peacock spot disease.
