The Cellina Barese variety is an autochthonous variety typical of the province of Bari. In border areas with Basilicata, it is found under the synonym Augellina. It is important to distinguish it from the Cellina di Nardò variety, which is widespread in the Salento area.
Trees of this variety possess medium or strong vigor. The variety's production is versatile and traditionally used in cooking, in particular for preparing bread with olives. The variety is encountered in cultivation sporadically.
