The variety is intended for oil production and is characterized by productivity with not always regular bearing. The fruits have an average weight of 2–4 g, the pulp-to-pit ratio is average, and the pit weight is 0.3–0.45 g.

The plant possesses high cold tolerance and is adapted to mechanical harvesting using shakers. At the same time, the variety demonstrates low capacity for vegetative propagation by semi-hardwood cuttings.

The variety is susceptible to a number of diseases and pests: high degree of infestation by peacock spot, sooty mold, olive fruit fly, and scale insects, as well as a medium degree of infestation by olive anthracnose.

The variety is distributed mainly in the Trás-os-Montes and Beira Interior regions of Portugal. It is a local autochthonous variety included in national genetic heritage collections.
