The tree is characterized by medium or weak vigor and a spreading crown. The leaves are elliptic-lanceolate in shape. The fruits are characterized by medium weight and an ovoid, slightly asymmetrical shape. The pit is rounded at both ends and has a rough surface.
The variety has good cold resistance, but is susceptible to the olive fruit fly and other insect pests. Harvesting takes place from the end of October to December. The oil yield is 15% to 25%, and the finished product is characterized by a creamy texture and a mild flavor.
The variety is traditionally grown in the Var department, Provence. Its primary purpose is olive oil production, where it is used in blends to create oils with a protected designation of origin, complementing the Aglandau and Salonenque varieties.
