The CASSANESE tree is characterized by high vigor and a dense, upright crown. Leaves have an elliptical shape and are medium-sized. The variety enters bearing early, possesses high and regular yields, and is self-incompatible, requiring pollinator varieties.
Fruits have an average weight of about 3 grams, an elliptical, asymmetrical shape with a characteristic nipple, and a wine-red color at the maturity stage. The flesh is difficult to separate from the pit, but the flesh-to-pit ratio reaches 7:1. The variety is resistant to peacock spot and olive knot, but is sensitive to the olive fruit fly and possesses low cold tolerance.
