Variety description

10 August 2026

The Castiglionese tree has characteristic long, pendulous branches in the lower part of the crown. The variety is considered traditional for the territory of the Castiglione Messer Raimondo municipality and belongs to crops with a medium fruit ripening period.

The oil obtained from the fruits of this variety has high gustatory qualities with notes of tomato and aromatic herbs. Due to low yield, the variety is more often used in blends with other local varieties, such as Leccino, Dritta and Frantoio, for a balanced taste of the finished oil.
