The varieties of the Cordovil group are traditional Portuguese olives. The fruits of these varieties are suitable both for canning and for olive oil production, with an average yield of about 20%.

Trees are typically characterized by medium or medium-low vigor and an open canopy shape. The varieties are distinguished by high productivity but are prone to alternate bearing. The fruit ripening period occurs in the second half of November.

The plants are sensitive to severe cold, drought, and soil salinity. Regarding diseases, the representatives of the group are characterized by high sensitivity to the olive fruit fly and the leaf spot pathogen (peacock spot), while showing resistance to olive knot.
