The tree of this variety is characterized by medium vigor and a spreading crown. The name of the variety comes from the Spanish word for "horn," which reflects the shape of the fruits. The variety is considered moderately productive and demonstrates a pronounced alternate bearing pattern.
The primary use of the fruits is for table consumption; they are less frequently processed into oil with an intense flavor. The variety shows high resistance to Verticillium wilt, but is extremely sensitive to low temperatures and excessive moisture, which is why it is often grown as individual trees or in mixed plantings.
