The variety is autochthonous to Spain, primarily to the Castilla-La Mancha region. The trees are characterized by high endurance to adverse climatic conditions, including drought and low temperatures. The strength of fruit attachment to the peduncle often requires delaying harvest dates.
The fruits have a characteristic elongated, slightly curved shape with a pointed tip and acquire an intense purple color upon ripening. The variety is versatile: fruits with a dense texture are used for canning, as well as for the production of stable olive oil with a high content of oleic acid and polyphenols.
