The variety is autochthonous to the Emilia-Romagna region and is sometimes designated as clone Istea 8. The fruits are of medium size and have an elongated ellipsoidal shape, which allows them to be distinguished from other local varieties.

The plant has high productivity and good cutting rooting ability. The variety shows medium resistance to cold and low susceptibility to the olive fruit fly. Fruit ripening occurs late and is extended over time.

The oil obtained from this variety is characterized by a medium fruity aroma with notes of almond, tomato, and artichoke. The taste is dominated by medium bitterness and intense piquancy with light herbaceous undertones.
