The CORSICANA DA OLIO variety is a traditional Sardinian variety intended for oil production. Genetic studies using molecular markers indicate that this genotype is identical or very close to the well-known Frantoio variety.
The plant belongs to the Corsicana group of varieties and is characterized by late fruit ripening, with harvest occurring in November–December. The fruits are medium-sized and ovoid in shape with a rounded apex.
The variety is characterized by high productivity and resistance to a number of diseases, including relative resistance to the olive fruit fly.
