The variety is of native Sicilian origin and is mainly cultivated in the Madonie mountains area and on the Tyrrhenian coast of the Messina province. Trees of this variety possess high vigor and the ability to successfully grow at elevations from 500 meters above sea level.
The fruits are used exclusively for the production of high-quality extra virgin olive oil with light or medium fruity notes. The oil has a light yellow color with green hues; its flavor and aroma profile contains nuances of artichoke, almond, and wild herbs.
