The variety is autochthonous and has many synonyms, such as Geracese, Paesana, Dolce di Gerace, Mammolese, Oliva grossa and Oliva di Bianco. The tree is characterized by strong growth vigor, has an upright dense crown and fruit-bearing branches with short internodes.

The variety has high productivity with moderately expressed alternate bearing. The plant is resistant to major fungal diseases but is susceptible to the olive fruit fly.
