The Ghjermana variety, also known as Germaine, Germana, Ghermana, or Romana, is a traditional plant grown primarily in Corsica. Genetically, the variety is closely related to the Italian variety Frantoio.
The plant has medium vigor and a spreading crown shape. The leaves are elliptical in shape, the fruits are oval and black when fully ripe. The pit is smooth, with a rounded base and apex.
The variety is characterized by good, stable yields and cold tolerance. Oil yield can exceed 30%. Harvesting is usually carried out from October to February, depending on production goals.
