The Giogolino variety is traditional for the Tuscany region in Italy. Genetically, this variety may be related to the Morchiaio variety, under which name it is sometimes found in local plantings.
In studies, the variety demonstrates high susceptibility to Verticillium wilt, caused by the fungus Verticillium dahliae, showing a more severe course of the disease compared to susceptible control samples. Giogolino is used in olive production, however, it is not included in the specification for products with the Toscano protected geographical indication.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
