The variety is part of the biological diversity of olive trees in Provence. It is mentioned in specialized documents on olive variety classification, where its identification is conducted based on morphological characteristics of leaves and fruits, including the presence and type of lenticels on the fruit surface.

Given that Maragonelle is a rare local variety, detailed agronomic data on it are absent in open sources. The variety name also coincides with toponyms and names of farms in the Valensole commune that specialize in olive growing.
