Local Greek olive variety, traditionally cultivated in the vicinity of the ancient city of Maroneia. The variety is a product of natural selection in the specific microclimatic conditions of the region and is considered rare.
Fruits are medium-sized and round-shaped; during the ripening process, the color changes from bright yellow-green to purple or black. The harvest takes place from the end of October to the middle of November. Trees are characterized by high hardiness, including the ability to withstand frost and adverse weather conditions.
The variety is versatile: the fruits are suitable for consumption and oil production. The resulting oil is characterized by a high phenol content, an intense fruity aroma with notes of chamomile, daisy, and apple, as well as a balanced taste with a slight bitterness.
