The Maremmano variety is autochthonous to the Maremma coastal plain in Tuscany. It is an ancient variety that has been grown for centuries within traditional olive groves in combination with other local varieties, such as Frantoio, Moraiolo and Leccino.
The fruits of the variety are used for oil, being included in blends for the production of Extra Virgin olive oil. The tree is also valued in ornamental gardening for its unusual small foliage and is considered a sufficiently hardy cultivar.

Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
