The name MILOLIA most often acts as a synonym for the Kolovi variety, which is widespread on the island of Lesbos. The tree of this variety is vigorous, reaches 6–8 meters in height, and has large dark green leaves. The fruits, weighing 3–6 g, have an acorn shape and ripen by the end of December. The variety is primarily intended for oil production with an oil content of up to 25%, but it is sensitive to fungal diseases.
In a number of cases, the name MILOLIA is used to designate the Galani variety, the fruits of which are large and are used primarily for the production of green olives. This name is also encountered as a regional synonym for the Konservolia or Kolymbada varieties. Due to differences in the agrotechnical requirements of these varieties, the specific cultivar must be clarified when using the term MILOLIA.
1 jurisdiction
Green indicates countries where the variety is listed in the national catalogue and its seeds are authorized for sale. Expired registrations are marked separately: the variety was previously admitted, but sale is no longer permitted.
