Kolovi trees do not reach large sizes, have irregularly shaped branches and broad foliage. The developed root system allows the plant to adapt to rocky soils of shale or limestone and conditions with limited precipitation.

The variety is primarily intended for oil production. Oil from Kolovi fruits is characterized by a balanced taste, intense aroma and high antioxidant content, while possessing moderate bitterness. The oil content in the fruits is 21–25%.
