The variety has synonyms Francese, Provenzalana, Provenzana, Pruvenzana. This is an old local cultivar that is found primarily as individual trees within olive plantations. At present, the variety is included in the lists of crops under observation for the conservation of biodiversity.

The fruits have a medium pulp-to-pit ratio (about 4.58). The purpose of the variety is dual: it is used for both oil production and table purposes. Specialized agronomic data on disease resistance or specific morphological tree parameters are limited.
