In genetic collections, this name can also be used to denote poorly studied or rare local genotypes.

In a commercial context, the term "OLIVA DOLCE" is most often used as a description of olive oil characteristics, indicating its mild, delicate taste with low bitterness, and does not refer to a specific tree variety.
