The Olea europaea var. leucocarpa variety is characterized by ivory-colored fruits that do not change color upon ripening due to the absence of anthocyanins. The tree has an upright growth habit, a broad crown, and dark green leaves. The oval-shaped fruits are notable for their ability to remain on the branches for a long time without dropping.
This variety is considered low-yielding, with irregular bearing and low oil content, which is why it is more often grown for ornamental purposes. Its fruits are sensitive to physical damage. Scientific sources also mention another local Oliva Bianca variety from the Campania region with a fruit weight of 4.31 g and an oil content of 18.63%.
The name Bianca is often used as a synonym for other varieties, such as Biancolilla or Bianchera. Identification of the plant requires specifying the region of breeding or botanical origin due to the ambiguity of the use of this name in Italy.
