The Olianedda variety is a traditional local variety of the island of Sardinia, also known by the synonym Nera di Oliena. The fruits of this variety are classified as oil-producing and are intended for olive oil production.
The fruits have a spherical, symmetrical shape and weigh 4.5–5 g; a small protrusion is often present at the apex. The fruit surface is covered with large lenticels, and the color turns black upon ripening. The variety is late-ripening; the harvest period falls between December and January.
The tree forms a spreading crown. The variety is characterized by a slow entry into the fruiting period and low yield even under intensive cultivation. Adapted to the local microclimatic conditions of Sardinia.
