The variety is a traditional type grown in the Molise region in Southern Italy. The fruits of this tree are small, have a rounded apex, a flattened base, and are covered with a waxy bloom.

The variety is classified as oil-bearing and is intended for the production of monovarietal or blended olive oil. It is distinguished by a late fruit color change process during ripening, during which the color changes from green to blue-black.
