The Ortice variety tree has medium vigor and a dense canopy; characteristic features include twisted and sinuous trunks and a silvery shade of the foliage. The flowers are self-infertile and require the presence of pollinators; the yield of the variety is characterized as abundant but irregular over the years.

Harvesting occurs late, from mid-October to the end of December, as the fruit color changes from green to dark purple. The variety is distinguished by high resistance to low temperatures and is successfully grown in the hilly areas of the Campania region.

The fruits are used for the production of extra virgin olive oil with a yield of about 16%, as well as for table olives. The oil has a high polyphenol content; the flavor and aromatic profile include pronounced notes of freshly cut grass, olive leaves, and tomato leaf with bitterness and piquancy.
