The Coratina variety originates from the Apulia region, north of Bari. The tree has medium vigor, a spreading crown, and dense foliage. The leaves are lanceolate, light gray-green in color. A feature of the variety, which gave it the synonymous name, is the development of flowers and fruits in dense clusters.

The fruits are oval, slightly asymmetric, becoming black-violet upon ripening; the average weight is 3–5 g. The variety is moderately resistant to major diseases, including olive fruit fly and Verticillium wilt, shows medium-high cold tolerance, and medium drought tolerance.

The resulting oil is characterized by a high polyphenol content and excellent storage stability. The flavor profile is distinguished by its intensity, pronounced bitterness, and pungency, with distinct notes of almond and artichoke.
