The variety is native to the municipalities of Tocco da Casauria and Castiglione a Casauria. The tree is considered hardy and undemanding, although the variety shows alternate bearing with good overall yield indicators.

The fruits of the variety are mainly used for oil production, with a yield reaching 23%. The product possesses medium fruity characteristics with notes of green almond and tomato, as well as moderate bitterness and pungency in taste.

In some sources, the variety is mistakenly identified with the Intosso variety; however, professional descriptions distinguish them as separate local cultivars of the Abruzzo region.
