The variety is a historical local specimen of the Veneto region, adapted to the climate and soils of Cordignano, where its cultivation occurs at some of the most northern latitudes for olive trees in Europe. The fruits of the variety have a rounded shape, which is reflected in the name, and are larger in comparison with other varieties of the region.

This variety is used for the production of high-quality oil, distinguished by an intense fruity aroma, a balanced taste with notes of bitterness and pungency, and a low level of acidity. Genetic studies confirm the uniqueness of this genotype, despite a certain similarity with some varieties of the Upper Adriatic area.
