The tree reaches a height of about 4 m and has a rounded, spreading crown with drooping two-to-three-year-old branches prone to rapid bareness. Leaves are small, matte, and elongated-oval in shape.
Fruits weighing 3–5 g have a rounded, slightly compressed shape and a dark red, almost black color when fully mature. The flesh is tender and juicy, dark red with pink veins; the juice is intensely colored.
The variety has a sweet-and-sour taste, containing about 11% sugars and 1.3% acids. Fruit ripening is extended. Due to self-sterility, it requires the planting of pollinator varieties, and early flowering makes it vulnerable to spring frosts.
