The variety is a historic local type, selected from the Martin Sec variety. Its name originates from the Borgata Sala area, where this specimen was selected.
The fruits are characterized by the presence of a distinct russeting on the surface, covering them almost entirely. The fruit flesh is distinguished by a high sugar content, pronounced aroma, and granular consistency.
