CH 201
ActivePyrus communis L. · European pear
EST. PRODUCTIVO DE DANILO CHRISTEN
10 August 2026
The variety is a landrace selection material from the Umbria region. The name reflects a connection with March, which may indicate either the period of fruit consumption or their ability to store until spring. In fresh form after harvest, the fruits are usually not ready for consumption and require stewing or further ripening.
The plant is characterized by a delay in spring phenological phases: buds bloom in early May, and flowering occurs in late April. Harvesting is carried out in late October. The fruits have a turbinate flattened shape with a narrowing in the equatorial part and are characterized by a very small size.
Due to the rarity of the variety and the high risk of genetic erosion, it is included in regional biodiversity registers and preserved in special collection orchards.
