Centennial Gold is a compact evergreen shrub with a dense cushion-shaped crown, reaching a height of 0.8–1 m, sometimes up to 1.5 m. The foliage is dark green, leathery, and shiny.
The funnel-shaped flowers are gathered in dense rounded inflorescences. They have a light lemon-yellow hue, sometimes with a golden sheen and reddish-orange spotting on the upper petal. Flowering occurs in May to early June.
The plant possesses winter hardiness down to -25…-26 °C. Under unfavorable conditions, it may be affected by leaf spots, rust, gray mold, and Cercospora leaf spot. It is used as a specimen plant, for group plantings, and for cultivation in containers.
