The Bolesław Chrobry variety (trade name Royal Lilac) is a fast-growing evergreen shrub with a dense hemispherical crown. 10 years after planting, the plant height is 1.5–2.0 m. The leaves are dark green, leathery, oblong, and up to 12 cm long.
The flowers are bell-shaped, intensely lilac in color, have brown speckles on the upper petal, and are gathered in large spherical inflorescences. Flowering occurs in May. The variety is characterized by frost resistance down to -30°C.
The plant prefers partial shade and acidic humus soils with a pH level of 3.5–4.5. Recommended for group and solitary plantings in gardens, parks, and for container cultivation.
