The variety is a compact ornamental shrub with a broad, bushy habit. The flowers have a purple-red color, corresponding to the 57B shade on the RHS scale in the middle part of the upper side of the petal.
In New Zealand conditions, plants reach a height of 1–1.2 m with a width of about 1.2 m. The variety is suitable for growing in containers, bordering, and mixed plantings; it requires well-drained acidic soils and protection from direct sunlight.
The variety has been used in breeding work as a parent form for obtaining other varieties, in particular, through spontaneous mutation.
