Vigorously growing medium-sized shrub with an upright crown shape. 10 years after planting it reaches a height and width of about 1.2 m. The leaves are dense, leathery, dark green in color with a glossy surface.
Flowers with a diameter of about 6 cm have a wide-open bell shape with a wavy edge and are gathered in spherical inflorescences. The color is dark red with a contrasting white center and possible dark speckles. The flowering period occurs in mid-to-late May.
The plant has frost resistance down to -24°C. It prefers acidic, nutrient-rich, moist, but well-drained soils. Planting in semi-shaded areas protected from strong winds is recommended.
