The variety is a rare sub-variety of the Cariñena group, which also includes the Blanca and Tinta forms. Due to its limited distribution, it is classified as an endangered variety, which makes it a subject of special study and conservation.

The winemaking potential of the variety is characterized by a moderate alcohol level, good acidity, and a low pH value. Depending on the vinification method, including the use of cold pre-fermentation maceration, the wines demonstrate pronounced aromas of lychee, dill, ginger, and mandarin.
